Villages Daily Sun: Cupid planning for big day in Villages

With only a few days left before Valentine’s Day, businesses around the area are ramping up their preparations to meet the community’s demand. Residents are expected to spend more than ever this year at restaurants, florists, chocolate shops and jewelry stores.

To prepare for the holiday, businesses around The Villages got to work early, including Peterbrooke Chocolatiers in Lake Sumter Landing.

Valentine’s Day is Peterbrooke’s biggest holiday. The company does 10 percent of its total business for the year the week of the holiday. Three days before Valentine’s Day are the highest traffic days for the store.

Recently Peterbrooke employee Ashlee Burdick was cleaning off strawberries to get them ready to be dipped in chocolate. She wanted to make sure the berries were totally dry.
