Tallahassee Democrat: Get the scoop: Ice cream parlors dish up free gelato and a contest this July

Ice cream parlors know that hot mid-summer nights bring dreams of gelato, double scoops and sundaes.

In recognition of July as national ice cream month two Tallahassee shops have special plans this month.

Gelato July at Peterbrooke

Peterbrooke Chocolatier is bringing back the summertime favorite Gelato July for its annual celebration on Wednesdays in July, continuing July 13, 20 and 27.

Any guest visiting Peterbrooke, including the shop in Miracle Plaza, 1817 Thomasville Road, on any Wednesday in July will receive a free sample scoop of any of Peterbrooke’s handcrafted, premium, Italian-styled gelato for free.

“Summer heat and cold treats have become synonymous with Peterbrooke Gelato July,” said Richard Herbert, Peterbrooke shop manager. “Our guests have looked forward to getting a free scoop of our handcrafted, Italian gelato Wednesdays for years now and we’re happy to show guests our appreciation again this July. It’s an annual sweet, summer tradition for so many of our families across our community.”

Peterbrooke offers between six and 12 flavors of authentic gelato including strawberry, chocolate chunk, banana, caramel praline, Tahitian vanilla, chocolate decadence, mango, and others.

“Each shop features a dedicated, branded gelato case showcasing our authentic, premium Italian product the likes of which could compete with any gelato you’d find in Naples, Venice, Florence, or Milan, Italy. It’s the real deal and we are so happy to share it with everyone,” Francie Bey, Peterbrooke Chocolatier Director of Marketing

Gelato July scoops are available as a sample cup, but guests can also order medium and large portions of gelato in waffle cones, cups, and milkshakes.
